Malaysian Artistes in Brunei for Pantun Fest

Several Malaysian artistes arrived in the Sultanate yesterday afternoon to represent Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) at the annual Pantun Festival with Radio Television Brunei (RTB), which will be recorded and shown during Hari Raya Adilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha.

Singers Zahid, Siti Sarah, Haziq and Natasha with actors Imuda, Bell and Wan Maimunah were greeted on arrival by the staff of RTB - host of this year` s Pantun Festival - led by its producer Dayang Hjh Jauyah Hj Chuchu of Drama Television Unit.

Imuda, Bell and Wan Maimunah will exchange pantun with their local counterparts Dk Hjh Rokiah Pg Hj Abdullah, Hj Metussin Hj Serudin, Dk Hajah Norshimah and Daud Iskandar for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri programme to be recorded on July 4 and 5 at Studio 1 of RTB.

Singers Zahid and Siti Sarah will perform with local singers Azlina Jais and Zaen.

Malaysian artistes Imuda, Bell and Wan Maimunah will once again appear for RTM in the pantun festival for Hari Raya Aidiladha to be recorded on July 7 and 8 at Studio 1, RTB.

Appearing for RTB will be local artistes Hulubalang Diraja Hj Abd Rahman, Hjh Suma, Serudin Hj Awg Damit, Fathan and Nurharizah.

Malaysian singers Haziq and Natasha and Brunei stars Ak Amilin and Tengku Syifa will perform two songs each at the programme.

Producer Hjh Jauyah said the theme for the pantun festival of Hari Raya Aidilfitri will be "Mandi Belawat", a traditional ceremony for Bruneian mothers after delivering babies which is equivalent to "Papat Jambul" in Malaysia.

"The theme for the pantun festival during Aidiladha will be jawi calligraphy," she said.
