Showcase Of Local, Thai Songs And Dance

Bandar Seri Begawan - An array of traditional song and dances from Brunei Darussalam and Thailand will be showcased during a two hour musical programme jointly organised by Radio Television Brunei (RTB) and RTH Thailand this coming August.

The third of its kind, the show - which this year comes under the memorandum of understanding between RTB and RTH - is called Alai Krathong, which is derived from the combination of a Malay and Thai word.

Both countries have taken turns to host the show, with Brunei playing host back in 2003.

To prepare for the traditional musical performances, the second production meeting for the Alai Krathong was yesterday held at RTB.

In his welcoming address, RTB Acting Head of Radio Haji Bahmin bin Hj Hamdan revealed that the programme would start with the intro segment by both Brunei and Thailand.

Following this would be the royal compositions and folk traditional music of both countries. Meanwhile, for the finale, both Brunei and Thai artistes will perform.

"After electing the Alai Krathong 2007 chair and co-chairpersons, we will review and discuss the status of the first meeting. We will also adopt the second Alai Krathong 2007 production meeting report and consider other matters," he added.

"It is always a pleasure to be able to come together again, among friends, to strengthen cooperation in the field of broadcasting, particularly radio cooperation," he said.

Heading the RTH delegation at the meeting was Radio Thailand Executive Director Paitoon Srirawd.
